This is really the meeting of two different project ideas that happened to work as one.

On the surface, it's a selection of the songs I wrote while playing a LARP character called Jenna Fourleaf, performed by her and her brother Eoin.

More than that though - both character voices are my own. I was inspired by Alexander James Adams' Wintertide album, which features duets and harmonies between voices recorded before and after starting hormones for gender transition - it's not an opportunity many people get, and I was lucky to find out about it at just the right time to pitch the idea to Red Banner Studios.

Battleforged has been two years in production, mostly while I waited for my voice to settle into something usable again (I lost a lot of technicality and range, going from a confident soprano to awkwardly between tenor and baritone) and I hope we've pulled together something that's worth the wait. And for those who know me from LARP and remember all these songs.. Journey's End is for you guys. It's completely new, written for the album and specifically for Jenna and Eoin to tie up their story. The great thing about retired characters is they sometimes keep writing.
